Yep, you read that right – no visa required! UK citizens are granted a stay of up to 90 days, which is plenty of time to immerse yourself in the beauty of this Central American gem. Just make sure that you have a return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay, and you’ll be all set to embark on your Costa Rican escapades.

Outstay your welcome and you’ll face a $100pm fine, and you might find some restrictions placed on your return. Best stick to visiting for up to 90 days and you shouldn’t have a problem!

Requirements for leaving Costa Rica by air – airport tax

Costa Rica charges a departure tax of $29 when you leave the country by air. Most airlines to actually include this in your ticket price, but it’s always worth checking the fee breakdown to avoid any unpleasant surprises (especially when you’ll already be gutted that you’re leaving!).
