Our Story
More Than Trips. This Is What We’re Building.
The Bucket List Company wasn’t created to sell holidays.
It was created to help people stop saying “one day.”
From leading school expeditions to Everest Base Camp and Kilimanjaro, to building a climbing and adventure centre in North Devon, the journey that led to The Bucket List Company was always rooted in one thing:
Taking people to extraordinary places — properly.
Where It All Began
Before The Bucket List Company existed, groups were already heading out across the world — led personally, supported properly, and delivered differently.
The idea came after years of:
-
Leading under-18 expeditions overseas
-
Running an expedition company
-
Building and growing an adventure centre in North Devon
-
Escorting adult groups to Everest Base Camp, Kilimanjaro and global dive trips
What felt missing in the market was simple:
There was no UK-led adventure company that built real community.
No company that owned and delivered its own trips end-to-end.
No brand clearly built around helping people tick off their bucket list — with leadership, care and presence from start to finish.
Then in 2014, at a marketing conference, the concept clicked.
“The Bucket List Company.”
The domain was available. It was bought that day.
And the mission became clear:
Help people tick off the things they’ve always talked about doing — and deliver them properly.
Award-Winning Adventure
Over the years, that commitment to delivering and leading our own trips has been recognised.
We’re proud to be an award-winning adventure travel company, with thousands of verified 5-star reviews and recognition for customer experience and service.
But awards aren’t the goal.
They’re a by-product of doing things properly — looking after people, exceeding expectations and standing behind every trip we run.
Certified B-Corp
For us, becoming B-Corp certified wasn’t about the badge.
It was about the process.
The certification forced us to examine everything:
-
How we choose and look after local providers
-
How we distribute revenue both in the UK and overseas
-
How we recycle and operate as a team
-
How we travel to work
-
How we reduce waste
-
How we support partners
It wasn’t about achieving a score.
It was about asking:
How can we become a better business?
And the real commitment begins after certification.
B-Corp requires improvement year after year.
It’s not a one-time achievement — it’s an ongoing responsibility.
Adventure should expand the world — not exploit it.
That’s why this matters to us.
Our Mission
When The Bucket List Company was founded, the mission was deliberately clear — and it still guides every decision today.
We think about our mission in three ways:
1 – For Our Customers
We create exceptional bucket list adventures designed to exceed expectations.
Our internal metric is simple:
Did this trip go beyond what you thought it would be?
From accommodation to logistics to the trek itself — exceeding expectations is non-negotiable.
2 – For The Destinations We Visit
We don’t just show you the highlights.
We show you the real country.
That means:
-
Visiting local schools in Tanzania
-
Experiencing real island life in the Maldives
-
Meeting communities beyond tourist hotspots
-
Building cultural awareness into itineraries
We want you to understand a place — not just photograph it.
3 – For Our Local Partners
We pay fairly.
We look after our guides.
We equip our porters properly.
We invest in education and sustainability.
Sometimes our trips cost more than others.
That’s because we refuse to cut corners on the people who make them possible.
We also believe sustainability in travel isn’t about pretending flights don’t exist — it’s about education, reducing waste, tackling single-use plastics and making incremental improvements wherever we can.
Small actions. Real impact.
More Than a Travel Company
We are not an extension of a bigger brand.
We do not outsource responsibility.
We design, deliver and stand behind our adventures.
From the first enquiry to the final summit photo — we’re involved.
The Bucket List Company is built on leadership, community and accountability.
And we’re still improving.
Every year.
Every trip.
Every detail.
