About 'The Best of Morocco'

There’s more to Morocco than Marrakesh you know.

Sure, on this 13-day ultimate adventure, you’ll get your chance to barter with the souks in the maze of markets and immerse yourself in the rich history there. But you’re going to do a hell of a lot more than that too.

You’ll see the blue-washed walls of Chefchaoun, head to Midelt and Merzouga, trek in the Todra Gorge and marvel at the majestic Akchour waterfalls.

You’ll visit medieval mosques, ancient Berber cities and, of course, the great Sahara. And you’ll taste delicious tagines, drink refreshing mint teas and sample some of the best street food in the world.

The ultimate Morocco adventure is truly a journey for all the senses (and you’ll probably be pleased to hear that some of it takes place from the saddle of a camel).

Ready for some glorious sights, unforgettable experiences and hilarious encounters?
Everything awaits you in Morocco.

There aren’t many better places you can get to on a 4-hour flight than Morocco.
It’s not merely its perfect combination of sun, sea and lots of sand. And it’s not just the culture or the amazing food either. The thing about Morocco is the variety this place has to offer.

One minute you’re wandering through the maze of market stalls in Marrakesh, bantering with souks and sinking your senses into the spices and sights in front of you. Next minute? You find yourself face to face with a camel. There’s a surprise around every corner in this fabulous country, and we’d like to help you discover a whole load of them during an incredible 13 days on the Ultimate Morocco Adventure.

You’ll get to grips with Morocco’s biggest city, right on the edge of the Atlantic, soaking up the hotbed of fascinating architecture in Casablanca’s bizarre yet brilliant mishmash of soaring skyscrapers and medieval mosques. You’ll visit the beautiful blue city, Chefchaouen, and score your biggest ever haul of Insta likes while you wander through the stunning streets, tasting the culture (and the coffee).

Berber cities, ancient mosaics and towering ruins that bore witness to several different civilisations await you on your journey towards Fes, the oldest city with the richest history. But it wouldn’t be a real Moroccan adventure without the Sahara, and you’ll certainly get your fair share of that. Watch in awe as mountains transform into sand dunes and saddle up to watch the sun setting from the hump of your camel! With deep Atlas Mountain canyons below and stunning starscapes above, you honestly won’t know what’s hit you in this incredible country. And when you drink it all in with a refreshing sip of mint tea? You might just think you’re in heaven.

The The Best of Morocco Itinerary

  • Day 1

    A Casablanca Encounter

You will arrive in Casablanca on day one of your adventure and immediately be captivated by the atmosphere of Morocco’s largest city. Casablanca is a city where ancient mosques meet futuristic skyscrapers, just a stone’s throw from the picturesque shores of the Atlantic.

Take a private transfer to the hotel, have a quick rest and refresh, and then the remainder of the day can be spent at your leisure.

  • Day 2

    The Blue City

Today we spend our day in a place that many would believe was from a fantasy film. Chefchaouen, also known as ‘The Blue City’, was built by refugees from Andalusia in the 1400s.

We will spend the day exploring all of the most enchanting spots in the city, wandering along the blue streets and visiting various local shops and Moroccan eateries – with a distinct Spanish influence.

  • Day 3

    Chefchaouen

On day three, we have a whole day to soak up the beauty of Chefchaouen. Lose yourself in the colourful streets with all of their unexpected alleyways and arches.

Alternatively, relax in hammam for the morning. In the afternoon, why not take a taxi to the spectacular Akchour waterfalls for a scenic hike?

However you choose to spend your day in Chefchaouen, top it off with a delicious meal in one of the city’s many restaurants.

  • Day 4

    Off to Fes

It’s time for a change of pace, so we’re off to Fes! On the way, we’ll stop off at the old Roman city of Volubilis. Here, we’ll explore the historic ruins that are built into the hills, with their intricate mosaics.

Later, we arrive in the walled city of Fes, formerly home to philosophers and silk road traders. Today, you can wander the labyrinthine streets, visit a traditional tannery or soak in a hammam ahead of our group dinner of local pastille.

  • Day 5

    Fes

Today we enjoy a full day tour of Fes. Once upon a time, astronomers and traders alike would flock to Fes’s cultural scene. We will explore this heritage through the city’s many mosques, medersas and markets.

Try to haggle for some local wares in the market stalls, or watch the local makers going about their ancient crafts. Take in the amazing architecture and enjoy the electric atmosphere of the city.

  • Day 6

    Drive through the Atlas Mountains

Now it’s time to head for the mountains – the High Atlas Mountains, to be precise.

We will take a scenic drive through the mountains towards the Sahara Desert, stopping off for the night in the quaint Berber town of Midelt. Upon arrival, you can spend the evening wandering the local Berber carpet shops, drinking Moroccan mint tea and enjoying local food.

  • Day 7

    Introducing the Sahara Desert

In the morning, we resume our drive into the Sahara. Eventually, the mountains turn into sand dunes as we reach the desert.

We reach the village of Merzouga, where we will saddle up for a breathtaking camel ride beneath the stars. Of course, if you prefer, you can walk alongside your camel.

Take in the incredible panoramas of the night sky under a blanket with a beer as your very own chef cooks up a tasty Moroccan feast and local music echoes through the wilderness.

  • Day 8

    Todra Gorge

We wake up to breakfast in the desert and then head back north towards the Todra Gorge. This famous canyon is 300 metres deep – and it is certainly very striking!

Along the drive, you can see mud-hut villages among the Atlas Mountains. When we arrive, we will take a short orientation hike to help you get used to the spectacular landscapes, before an evening of relaxation.

  • Day 9

    Trekking through the canyons

Today it’s time to get active, with a 10km trek through the Todra Gorge. This is a truly stunning hike, going through the towering red canyons alongside babbling streams.

We will pause for lunch with a Berber family, and continue through the epic carved canyons until we eventually return to the hotel, just in time for a dip in the pool at sunset!

  • Day 10

    Road of 1000 Kasbahs

The Todra Gorge is famous for more than the canyon itself – it’s also known for being the home of the ‘Road of 1000 Kasbahs’. Film buffs will recognise the scenes at Aït Benhaddou, a town which has been featured in everything from Gladiator to Game of Thrones.

We will wander the picturesque streets and take in the sweeping views before returning to the hotel for another amazing sunset in paradise.

  • Day 11

    Marrakech food tour

On day 11 of your Morocco adventure, we will finally head to the iconic city of Marrakech.

Today is a foodie’s dream, as we will be enjoying a private food tour of Marrakech! Your guide will take you to all of the best local spots and street food stalls to sample all of Morocco’s most delicious delicacies. Enjoy deep-friend pastries, sweets, tagine and so much more.

In the evening, you can either unwind in a hammam, enjoy a meal in a restaurant or head to Djemaa el-Fna, the famous square where you can encounter everything from dance performances to snake charming!

  • Day 12

    Immersing ourselves in the Medina

On our final day of exploration, we will discover the riches of Marrakech.

Amble around the alleyways of the Medina and scour for bargains in the souks, before heading to the Jardins Majorelle for a little leafy respite.

Explore the ancient Koutoubia Mosque and the beautifully-tiled Bahia Palace among countless other cultural gems.

  • Day 13

    Flying home

After an incredible trip, today it’s time to say goodbye and fly back home.

Not ready for the adventure to end? Why not book a hot air balloon ride add-on? This phenomenal experience takes you floating over the countryside of Morocco in style.

Reviews about the The Best of Morocco trip

Here’s what some of our awesome customers had to say:

From start to finish this trip was pieced together using the finest detail. All we had to remember was our kits and to get to the airport on time!

With the help of the team at The Bucket List Company, the guides, the porters and a lot of team spirit, 20/20 individuals had their dreams come true and made it to the roof of Africa. It was an amazing experience and we have all made friends for life!

You also can’t go all the way to Africa without the add on safari trip. It is absolutely worth it, we managed to see the big 5 and much more in just 3 days. The next trip is already underway…

Sarah Anderson Mount Kilimanjaro climb The Bucket List Company Reviews

“I booked up to do Kilimanjaro as a bucket list activity. It was sheer luck that I discovered The Bucket List Company’s Facebook page, which lead me to their website. It was a spontaneous booking since I had a year plus (at the time) to then freak out, do training, get organised and buy equipment – all of which was provided in a detail information/check list email with attachments.

Even though it was only Kilimanjaro on my bucket list, my feet are getting itchy… I think I need to make another booking for another trip, which I’m already excited and nervous about!

I would recommend these guys 100% if you are contemplating booking an adventure. It’s the biggest achievement ANYONE could experience and with Keith, Gareth and Whitey… YOU CAN DO IT! The entire group of people that were brave enough to do this “wee walk” all successfully reached the summit. I shared some amazing banter, tears and laughs with you. Most importantly, I have the memories.”

Claire Campbell Mount Kilimanjaro climb The Bucket List Company Reviews

“This has been the first time I’ve used this travel company. I would like to say it has been a fabulous experience , the staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. The whole trip was well planned, but their was scope to change the itinerary at the last minute to include other travel arrangements and visits. Nothing was to much trouble. I would definitely use this company again and would be more than happy to recommend it to my friends. Thanks for a great holiday.”

Ian Paul Annapurna Circuit trek The Bucket List Company Reviews

“When you book a Bucket List experience you want the company you book with to understand that for you this is once in a lifetime event and make it that little bit different. Having travelled with three other ‘group travel’ companies I can say that TBLC understand more than most that the little things matter. The pre travel part is stand out; from a welcome gift on booking, monthly installment options or the excellent training weekends you get an early impression you will be looked after and when on trip you certainly are. I recently returned from EBC and the organisation an execution of the trip was excellent, once travelling you don’t have to think about a thing

And the care and attention from both UK and local guides cannot be faulted. A couple of days I found the going very hard but I always had someone by my side for reassurance and encouragement which I have to say probably got me to Base Camp. I would have no hesitation
in recommending TBLC to others, they’re a first class company who helped me tick a biggie off that bucket list!”

Lucy Bond Everest Base Camp The Bucket List Company Reviews

“We have just had our first experience with The Bucket List Company, and are already planning our second trip! We completed Everest Base Camp in March 2019. If you want an amazing adventure with no stress or worries… this is it!

The attention to detail was excellent at all times. You are looked after from the moment you book your trip until you return to the UK! The guides and porters were amazing – nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to The Bucket List Company, dreams do come true!”

Michelle Bailey Everest Base Camp trek The Bucket List Company Reviews

“If you want to realise your dreams, the team at The Bucket List Company need to be your travel companions. From the ease of booking, preparing kit lists and training encouragement to the summiting of Mt Kilimanjaro, the team are there to support you 100% of the way. The knowledge and in country support was amazing. We came back a team of successful climbers, full of knowledge and experiences of Tanzania and her wonders.

We laughed (a lot) and we cried; we sang and danced and we ate extremely well. They even managed pizza and chips halfway up the mountain! Everyone became one big family, relaxed and laid back, each of us supporting everyone’s ambition to get to the top. A truly life changing experience. We are already planning our next trip with Keith and the team.”

Don’t miss the best of Morocco!
Here’s a bold claim. When most people go to Morocco, they’re usually after one of two things: Marrakesh or the Sahara Desert (maybe a mint tea or two as well). But limit yourself to these two destinations and you’re making a huge mistake.

You’ll be accompanied by local trip leaders who know their stuff better than anyone and who’ll make sure you soak up a bona fide experience of this amazing country.

Moroccan adventures like this one really are rather hard to come by. So if you fancy 11 nights of 4* accommodation with private bathrooms and delicious dinners in one of the most beautiful countries in the world…
