  • DAY 1: RIO DE JANEIRO

RIO DE JANEIRO Meet and greet at the airport with your local, personal guide, and transfer to your hotel, if you have booked transfers with us please make sure to let us know what time your flight will be arriving.

  • DAY 2: FULL DAY CORCOVADO & SUGAR LOAF WITH LUNCH

FULL DAY CORCOVADO & SUGAR LOAF WITH LUNCH Designed for anyone who has a full day available to visit Rio's two main attractions, this tour is essentially a combination of the Corcovado plus City Tour with Sugarloaf. From Cosme Velho district a cog and pinion railway climbs the steep forested hillside to the peak of Corcovado (Hunchback). On the summit, at an altitude of 710 metres, the statue of Christ the Redeemer is one of the world's best-known and most-visited monuments. Clad with a soapstone mosaic, the statue is one of Rio's finest Art Deco monuments and at night the shining landmark is visible from all over the city. From here there are breathtaking views down to the beaches of Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon, the Jockey Club and Rodrigo Freitas Lagoon. Located around the base of Corcovado and with many springs and waterfalls, the dense Tijuca Forest was proclaimed a National Park in the early sixties. After the descent through the forest, the tour will make a photo stop at Mário Filho Stadium, known to football fans worldwide as Maracanã, and the nearby Sambódromo, designed by Oscar Niemeyer and the stage for Brazil's largest and most flamboyant carnival celebrations. The tour includes a delicious lunch at a typical Brazilian restaurant. After lunch, the tour takes in various places of interest in downtown Rio de Janeiro: the contemporary Metropolitan Cathedral, with its vast stained-glass windows, and the Aterro do Flamengo, a tranquil, spacious park with lawns and blossoming trees, and lovely views of Rio and Sugarloaf. The tour then proceeds through the old neighborhood of Urca towards the base of Sugarloaf, where you take a cable-car for the exhilarating, steep, 215m climb up Morro da Urca. From this intermediate stage the cable-car proceeds all the way to the Sugarloaf's summit, some 395 m above sea level. From the top, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views and spectacular sunsets over Rio de Janeiro. Duration: approx. 8 hours

    Frequently Asked Questions
    • What should I wear?

When in the Jungle, tourists need to prepare and always cover their skin to protect from the bites, and stings from the insects that are here as well as rashes caused by the many plants; trousers, and a long sleeve T-shirt will be fine. A very good pair of waterproof boots are essential for exploring the forest, and it is suggested to always check boots before putting them back on as poisonous creatures can hide in them. Always tuck the cuffs of the trousers to reject pests from crawling up.

    • What will I eat and drink?

Tourists need to make sure they only drink bottled water and nothing from the tap or a source from the forest. Eating food from the streets here is not recommended as the Amazon has unique bacteria which will cause fevers and an upset stomach.

    • What vaccinations are recommended?

Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever vaccinations are recommended. Malaria preventatives are also recommended at many of the more remote lodges. For the most current information, please consult your doctor and/or check out the Center for Disease Control

    • Do I need a Visa?

Citizens of many countries, including the United States, Canada, and the European Union, need a visa to enter Brazil. The visa application process can take several weeks, so be sure to plan ahead and apply in advance.

    • What currency do I need for this trip?

The official currency of Brazil is the Brazilian real (BRL). US dollars and euros are often accepted at tourist destinations, but it’s best to have local currency on hand for smaller purchases and street vendors.
