Amazon Cultural Adventure Itinerary

Meet and greet at the airport with your local, personal guide, and transfer to your hotel. If you have booked transfers with us please make sure to let us know what time your flight will be arriving.

Designed for anyone who has a full day available to visit Rio’s two main attractions, this tour is essentially a combination of the Corcovado plus City Tour with Sugarloaf. From Cosme Velho district a cog and pinion railway climbs the steep forested hillside to the peak of Corcovado (Hunchback). On the summit, at an altitude of 710 metres, is the statue of Christ the Redeemer, one of the world’s best-known and most-visited monuments.

Around the base of Corcovado, the dense Tijuca Forest was proclaimed a National Park in the early sixties. After the descent through this forest, the tour will make a photo stop at Mário Filho Stadium, better known to football fans worldwide as Maracanã, and the nearby Sambódromo, the stage for Brazil’s largest carnival celebrations. The tour includes a delicious lunch at a typical Brazilian restaurant. After lunch, the tour takes in various places of interest in downtown Rio de Janeiro before proceeding through the old neighbourhood of Urca towards the base of Sugarloaf. A cable car carries you up the steep climb of Morro da Urca. From this intermediate stage, the cable car proceeds to Sugarloaf’s summit, 395 m above sea level. From the top, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views and spectacular sunsets over Rio de Janeiro. Duration: approx. 8 hours

Meet and greet with your local, Portuguese-speaking driver in Campo Grande, to be transferred roughly 3.5 hours to Bonito.

The tour begins in the forest surrounding the Rio da Prata, with the chance to spot birds and other wildlife before diving into the Olho d’Agua, a tributary of the Rio da Prata. Floating in the crystal-clear water feels like being in an aquarium, with dozens of different species of fish and aquatic plants. At the end of the float a delicious lunch awaits. Wetsuits and special shoes are necessary equipment and are provided.

Meet and greet with your local, Portuguese-speaking driver in Bonito, to be transferred roughly 2 hours to Aquidauana.

Explore Aquidauana and experience a range of activities; horseback riding, hiking, a photographic safari, and boat tours. All are subject to change based on weather conditions.

Amazon Cultural Adventure Reviews

Amazon Cultural Adventure Frequently Asked Questions

When in the Jungle, tourists need to prepare and always cover their skin to protect from the bites, and stings from the insects that are here as well as rashes caused by the many plants; trousers, and a long sleeve T-shirt will be fine. A very good pair of waterproof boots are essential for exploring the forest, and it is suggested to always check boots before putting them back on as poisonous creatures can hide in them. Always tuck the cuffs of the trousers to reject pests from crawling up.

Tourists need to make sure they only drink bottled water and nothing from the tap or a source from the forest. Eating food from the streets here is not recommended as the Amazon has unique bacteria which will cause fevers and an upset stomach.

Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever vaccinations are recommended. Malaria preventatives are also recommended at many of the more remote lodges. For the most current information, please consult your doctor and/or check out the Center for Disease Control

Citizens of many countries, including the United States, Canada, and the European Union, need a visa to enter Brazil. The visa application process can take several weeks, so be sure to plan ahead and apply in advance.

The official currency of Brazil is the Brazilian real (BRL). US dollars and euros are often accepted at tourist destinations, but it’s best to have local currency on hand for smaller purchases and street vendors.
