  • Day 2: HELLO HANOI!

HELLO HANOI! Touch down in Noi Bai International Airport on the edge of Hanoi and meet your guide before transferring to your first hotel. You’ll be staying in the city centre tonight and, if your flight time allows, you can spend the afternoon exploring at your leisure.

  • Day 3: COOKING CLASS AND CITY TOUR

COOKING CLASS AND CITY TOUR After breakfast, you’ll head to the market to buy ingredients for a delectable cooking class in a local home. You’ll learn how to cook real, traditional Vietnamese food under the friendly guidance of a professional. It’s a fascinating glimpse into Hanoi’s culture, and you’ll enjoy tasting what you create too! You’ll also sup some special local wines and food made by your instructor. In the afternoon you’ll enjoy cycling around the beautiful streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, with stops at some important sites, before a hilarious water puppet show in the evening.

  • Day 4: FROM HANOI TO THE MAI CHAU VALLEY

FROM HANOI TO THE MAI CHAU VALLEY You’ll head out from Hanoi to the Mai Chau valley today. It’s a 4-hour drive with plenty of stops and beautiful scenery to devour along the way. After check-in at your hotel, it’s time to relax and eat some tasty lunch at a local restaurant. Get the walking boots on in the afternoon for a walk around Pom Coong and Lac, a village inhabited by the White Thai people. Savour this snapshot of a more peaceful way of life, with majestic mountains and lush rice fields all around you.

  • Day 5: WAKE UP IN MAI CHAU ECO LODGE THEN CYCLE THROUGH BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES

WAKE UP IN MAI CHAU ECO LODGE THEN CYCLE THROUGH BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES Hop aboard your bike after brekkie for a gentle cycle through the verdant rice paddies and the amazing villages of Chieng Sai, Na Phin and Nhot. After lunch back at the lodge you’ll check out ready for your transfer to Ninh Binh, where you’re staying tonight.

  • Day 6: BEAUTIFUL CANALS, GROTTOS AND MOUNTAINS

BEAUTIFUL CANALS, GROTTOS AND MOUNTAINS It’s a stunning, serene journey on water today. After breakfast, you’ll board your rowing boat to glide gently along the intricate canals through local fields, villages and even the three caves of Tam Coc (they call it “Ha Long Bay on land”!). In the afternoon you’ll visit the beautiful grotto at Bich Dong then climb up Buddha’s Palm Mountain, Ngu Nhac Son. The views over mountains, rivers and pagodas are faintly ridiculous here!

  • Day 7: OVERNIGHT CRUISE IN HA LONG BAY

OVERNIGHT CRUISE IN HA LONG BAY You’ll be driven to Ha Long Bay this morning, a World Heritage Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The drive is amazing – rich farmlands of the Red River Delta, rice fields, and even water buffalo. In Ha Long Bay you’ll hop aboard your boat with a welcome drink, then sail out to the Bo Nau and Sung Sot caves before stopping at Titov Island. Here, you can swim in the crystal-clear waters, relax on the beach or climb to the top rock for sublime panoramic views. After an incredible sunset back on the boat you’ll enjoy cocktails and a cooking demonstration before a delicious dinner.

  • Day 8: TAI CHI, CAVES AND THE RETURN TO HANOI

TAI CHI, CAVES AND THE RETURN TO HANOI Wake up on the boat and start the day right with some tai chi on top deck. After breakfast, you’ll visit Luon Cave where you can kayak or upgrade to a traditional bamboo boat and be rowed by a local boatman. You’ll transfer back to Hanoi by road during the afternoon, with plenty of time to visit the best restaurants for dinner.

  • Day 9: FLY TO SIEM REAP AND SETTLE IN

FLY TO SIEM REAP AND SETTLE IN After breakfast, it’s time to head to the airport for your flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Your new guide will meet you at the airport and take you to check in at your hotel in the heart of Siem Reap town. In the afternoon you’ll enjoy a guided walking tour of the town before a tasty, traditional Cambodian dinner.

  • Day 10: DAY TOUR OF ANGKOR WAT

DAY TOUR OF ANGKOR WAT Siem Reap has lots going for it but nothing more special than Angkor Wat Historical Park, home to countless incredible 12th-century structures. You’ll arrive by tuk-tuk to explore the best temples (keep an eye out for one temple that’s been eaten by a tree!). Your guide will talk you through the incredible history of the region and answer any questions you might have. After you’ve had your fill, you’ll head back to the hotel for a dip in the pool or to enjoy some more free time in the town.

  • Day 11: EASY BIKING AND PHARE CIRCUS

EASY BIKING AND PHARE CIRCUS Spend the morning cycling through the stunning (and flat!) countryside surrounding Siem Reap. You’ll visit rural villages where lots of farming and production happen behind the scenes and enjoy beautiful views everywhere you look. After lunch you’ll have some free time before a transfer to the world-famous Phare Circus for a wonderful evening that you’ll never forget.

  • Day 12: A COOKING LESSON, A BOAT TOUR, AND SOUTHEAST ASIA’S BIGGEST FRESHWATER LAKE!

A COOKING LESSON, A BOAT TOUR, AND SOUTHEAST ASIA’S BIGGEST FRESHWATER LAKE! • Day 13: TO PHNOM PENH!

TO PHNOM PENH! After breakfast you’ll transfer to Cambodia’s vibrant and bustling capital, Phnom Penh. It’s a long journey so you’ll stop along the way to taste fresh bamboo sticky rice cakes and dig deeper into Cambodian culture. Vietnam & Cambodia Family Adventure Frequently Asked Questions

  • Whats the currency used?

The best currency to take to Cambodia is the local currency, the Cambodian riel. US dollars are also highly exchangeable at local banks and currency exchange offices. However, instead of converting physical banknotes, the cheapest way to pay in Cambodia is to use a multi-currency travel debit card like Revolut or Wise.

  • What type of traveller might want to visit Vietnam and Cambodia?

Vietnam is well-known for its natural scenic beauty and Cambodia, for its fascinating history and culture, ranging from gorgeous National Parks to relaxing islands and beaches.

  • What is the weather like?

Southeast Asia is a tropical region of Asia. Northern Vietnam is one of the only regions in Southeast Asia with a cold winter and snow at a higher altitude. The best time to visit would be March-April when rainfall is low and temperatures milder.

  • How to pack for this trip?

Your main means of transport while you are visiting Vietnam and Cambodia will be by vehicle, walking and also some cycling so you will need to pack comfortable clothing and footwear.

It tends to be very warm in southeast Asia so packing light and breathable clothing will prove very beneficial! It is an atheist state and their general culture is quite conservative so modesty is a bit more prevalent than it is in the UK. Going to temples you would be required to dress sensibly and respectfully. Hiking boots will be a necessity as there are a couple of treks and a lot of walking in general

  • What vaccinations are recommended when visiting south east Asia?

Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Cholera, Yellow Fever, Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies, Tickborne Encephalitis and Polio.
