While the British climate might not make for the greatest swells you certainly don’t have to go all the way to Australia to learn to surf in the sun. You needn’t head as far as India to learn how to perfect your posture while you “ohm” in a tree pose either. In fact, a four-hour flight is all it takes to get to one of the best places to surf and do yoga on this side of the world.
And where is that flight taking you? To Morocco, that’s where. They call it the land of the right-hand point break, you know. The Atlantic churns out its most powerful swells on Morocco’s curvy coastline from October to March, and with a coastline facing both South West and North West? You’re pretty much guaranteed great surf and sun. Exercising outdoors has been known to increase relaxation, and doing so will help you reconnect with mother nature too.
As you can probably imagine, there’s nothing quite like practising yoga in an idyllic setting, with the ocean before you and the sun on your back. And when you unroll your yoga mat to downward dog on the beach, you maximise the health benefits of breathing in the sea air at the same time. But that’s not all a spot of yoga will do for you. Oh no, not at all. When you know how to complete the perfect flow, you really will hone your strength, balance and flexibility, which are three important factors for success on the surfboard. How else can you expect to paddle, pop up and stay standing on the toughest of waves?!
So if you’ve been looking for a fabulously fun surf adventure with a twist, this is most definitely it.

If you’re not already a surfer, don’t make the mistake of underestimating the challenge involved. In an environment where no single wave is ever the same as the next and your playground’s constantly changing, it can be hard to know where to start and which skills to work on first. Throw the British climate into the mix and you’ve almost got yourself a recipe for disaster. That’s why we’ve set this beach adventure in Tagzahout; one of the best places to surf in the northern hemisphere. And with professional yoga lessons to boot, you’ll set yourself up with the perfect skillset to catch a wave and learn to barrel in the quickest time possible. But you won’t be pinned to the beach for the entire duration of the trip. Sure, you’ll get many chances to surf and savasana every day, but you’ll get to wander through the spice-scented lanes and palm-lined avenues of the fortified medina of Essaouria too. The traditional port city makes for the perfect break from the beach, where you can watch fishermen mending their nets and building traditional boats as well as eat the finest catch for lunch.
This adventure just keeps on giving.
So if you want to salute the Moroccan sun from a sandy yoga mat and connect with mother nature with the Atlantic before you… If you want seven nights’ comfy accommodation with private bathrooms and healthy, delicious meals prepared by your own professional Moroccan chef… And if you want learn to surf with (seriously cool) certified instructors who’ll provide your wetsuit and board and show you how to barrel… It’s time to catch a wave in Morocco.
Check out the itinerary, chuck any questions you have in our direction, book your spot and get ready to tick an incredible experience off your Bucket List. If you don’t do it now, will you ever?
The moment you arrive in Marrakech, you will be intoxicated by the heady atmosphere of the city. Here, cultural influences from Africa, Europe and the Middle East mix in one of the world’s most diverse, vibrant cities.
We will arrive in Marrakech and check into our hotel, before heading into the Medina for a delicious evening meal as the sun sets over the horizon.
Day 2: Drive to Taghazout
Today we will drive along a scenic route through the Atlas Mountains to the quaint fishing village of Taghazout.
Whereas the village was once well-known for its delicious fresh seafood, now Taghazout is considered Morocco’s prime surfing location.
Once we arrive, we will spend the evening exploring the relaxed streets and eating a fresh catch in one of the local restaurants.
Day 3: Sunrise or Sunset Yoga & Surf Lesson
We’ll start this morning off in serene fashion this morning with a sunrise yoga session overlooking the waves. Learn all of the basic yoga moves and sequences from an expert tutor in an invigorating morning workshop.
Next, it’s time to hit the waves. We’ll start on the beach as we learn the fundamentals of surfing, before heading out into the sea to try out our newfound skills. This is an amazing day of surfing in the sun, with a break for lunch on the sand.
Alternatively, you can go straight to surfing after breakfast, and then enjoy a yoga session during sunset to unwind.
Day 4: Yoga & Surf Lesson, visit Agadir
This morning begins just as yesterday did, with an early-morning yoga workshop. Get into the zone as you develop your moves from yesterday and relax into the flow of the session.
After breakfast, we head out again to the sea. Today, you should be feeling a little more confident and ready to catch some waves! Of course, your instructors are always on hand to help you fine-tune your technique, where it’s getting a grasp on the basics or learning a more advanced skill.
In the afternoon, we will head back to the hotel for a quick wash and change before heading to the nearby city of Agadir to explore! Enjoy the relaxed beachfront promenade with a beer, shop for a bargain in Souk El Had, or relax in a hammam.
Day 5: Day Trip to explore Essaouira
After our daily morning yoga session, we will have a cultural experience with an interactive cooking class. Learn about the unique spice blends of Moroccan cuisine, and try cooking a few recipes before sampling your dishes for lunch.
In the afternoon, we will travel to the windy city of Essaouira. This city is full of palm-fringed streets with the aromas of spices wafting from the markets. We will wander around the city before enjoying another afternoon yoga session and rounding off the day with a delicious dinner.
Day 6: More surfing!
Following our morning yoga session, we will head to the sea for our final day of surfing.
Now is your chance to really soak up the moment and enjoy flaunting your new-found skills on the surf.
Alternatively, you can spend the day relaxing in the sun with or exploring the village.
In the evening, enjoy a meal together before enjoying a film beneath the stars at the hotel’s open-air cinema.
Day 7: Sunrise yoga, Stand Up Paddle Board lesson and return to Marrakech
Today we’ll be switching it up a little bit, and after our final morning yoga session, we’ll wander down to the beach. But this time, it’s all about stand-up paddleboarding!
We’ll learn how to paddleboard in the shallows, and enjoy this relaxing activity in the balmy sun.
Later on, we return to Marrakech for an evening of tagine and relaxation.
Day 8: Heading home
Today it’s time to head home to the UK – unless you’re planning to enjoy our hot air balloon ride add-on excursion! Check out our add-ons section to find out more about this breathtaking experience.
What our Customers Say
Here’s what some of our awesome customers had to say:
“Went to Morocco with The Bucket List Company. Not only was it an amazing trip it was lead by an amazing company. Everything was sorted for us from the flights to accommodation. Having a UK leader with us the whole time made the trip effortless.
Having someone with experience of the country and the trip certainly made it effortless. I would not hesitate recommending or using this company again myself.”
“I love these guys – their knowledge and enthusiasm is amazing. They’re all so supportive of everyone in the group, so whatever your motivation for going on one of their trips, you’ll achieve it.”
Wow… what can I say? This was one of the hardest but most enjoyable trips of my life. The Bucket List Company were a pleasure to deal with from the word go, and the support Keith offered on the trip was just amazing, backed up by Whitey and his merry band of porters.
Booking with The Bucket List Company was easy – the only thing you have to think about is packing and turning up, they organise everything, leaving you to enjoy your trip without the hassle.
I cannot thank The Bucket List Company enough, and look forward to booking my next adventure to Peru shortly.
Mount Kilimanjaro climb
“2013 was the year I decided that I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro. It was going to be the trip of a lifetime, and I wanted to make sure I chose the right company to help me achieve my goal.
I’d had several recommendations from friends, so I contacted Keith and his team. From that moment to my first step on the summit, I could not have asked for a better company to have made my dream come true. Keith and his team provided the highest attention to detail, and there was always someone to pick up the phone during the run up to the trip to answer any questions I had – no matter how silly!
During the expedition, Keith was with us every step of the way, offering encouragement and support through some of the toughest hours of my life! I could not recommend The Bucket List Company enough on my return. Unfortunately, this did not work out so well for me, because in 2015 my sister decided she wanted to undertake the same challenge… with me!
So in September 2015 I summited Africa’s highest peak for the second time – a proud moment. Again, we were supported by The Bucket List Company.
My sister and I are planning more adventures over the next few years, and the flexible payment options that The Bucket List Company offer mean we can turn those dreams into some more fantastic memories to add to our collection. I would never consider another company to organise my expeditions now, and I would happily put my life in their hands. I cannot thank them enough for opening up a world of possibility.”

“Brilliant Everest Base Camp trek with outstanding customer care from start to finish. Loved it so much I’ve just booked a Sahara trek and Kilimanjaro for next year!”
Everest Base Camp
“Rocking up to the airport ready to meet the other “bucket listers” who signed up to the same adventure; I felt nervous of what was ahead and who would I be spending the next 10 days with.
My nerves were put at rest instantly. I now have 10 new awesome friends!
We were welcomed by Keith at the airport and from then on in, everything was wonderfully organised. So much so that Keith even helped us find a TV to watch the Arsenal game during the trek when were in the middle of Lares. Totally going above and beyond!
The knowledge and passion to travel really shone through and made the entire experience a true dream. The Bucket List Company are smaller than other companies in this market; however don’t let that put you off, this is a strength!
They are a super knowledgeable company, led by people who have a real passion for what they do. It was all about my bucket list of activities and ticking them off – this was their main objective. They were also happy to tweak plans to fit others needs; this level of flexibility (including the payment plans/options) is not so welcoming in larger companies.
I would encourage everyone to jump onto the adventures The Bucket List Company offer – go on do it now!
I am already signing up to my next adventure with the Bucket List Company!”
