While the British climate might not make for the greatest swells you certainly don’t have to go all the way to Australia to learn to surf in the sun. You needn’t head as far as India to learn how to perfect your posture while you “ohm” in a tree pose either. In fact, a four-hour flight is all it takes to get to one of the best places to surf and do yoga on this side of the world.
And where is that flight taking you? To Morocco, that’s where. They call it the land of the right-hand point break, you know. The Atlantic churns out its most powerful swells on Morocco’s curvy coastline from October to March, and with a coastline facing both South West and North West? You’re pretty much guaranteed great surf and sun. Exercising outdoors has been known to increase relaxation, and doing so will help you reconnect with mother nature too.
As you can probably imagine, there’s nothing quite like practising yoga in an idyllic setting, with the ocean before you and the sun on your back. And when you unroll your yoga mat to downward dog on the beach, you maximise the health benefits of breathing in the sea air at the same time. But that’s not all a spot of yoga will do for you. Oh no, not at all. When you know how to complete the perfect flow, you really will hone your strength, balance and flexibility, which are three important factors for success on the surfboard. How else can you expect to paddle, pop up and stay standing on the toughest of waves?!
So if you’ve been looking for a fabulously fun surf adventure with a twist, this is most definitely it.
