Itinerary
DAY 1: FLY TO GOZO
You will depart the UK for your adventure! If you have booked flights with us (option available for Bucket Lister + trips only), we’ll provide all the information you’ll need to meet your guide. If you are arranging your own flights, have a safe journey!
On arrival in Malta you’ll make your way to the accommodation in Xlendi Bay, Gozo. If you have booked transfers through us, we’ll send you the details before your trip.
There will be a welcome meeting with in-country guides at the hotel.
DAY 2: EXPLORE THE AREA
You will spend today exploring your surroundings and relaxing before the diving starts tomorrow.
Gozo is only 7 miles x 3 miles so it is really easy to get around the island.
In the afternoon you will get your dive briefing. Here we will check all the paperwork and get your kit measured up for the week ahead.
DAY 3: DIVING DAY 1
In the morning, we will cover academic material, and then, in the afternoon, we will do confined water training at a shallow dive site or in the pool.
If you are already a qualified open water diver, and you wish to complete your Advanced Open Water today, you will carry out a check dive to refresh your skills.
If you have joined us to go fun diving, today you will head out on 3 accompanied dives.
DAY 4: DIVING DAY 2
Open Water Divers; you will continue with the Open Water Dives for your course.
Advanced Open Water Divers; you will now start your Advanced Course.
Fun Divers; you have another 3 dives today to explore the island!
DAY 5: DIVING DAY 3
Open Water Diving Course Day 3. Today, we do the final open water dives (3 & 4), followed by getting our certifications! In the evening, we can celebrate with a meal or by exploring the nightlife of Gozo.
Advanced Open Water Divers will complete the second and final day of the course. Those of you who are diving for fun can complete another 3 dives.
DAY 6: FREE DAY
For the next two days, you have options.
If you have completed your Open Water certification, you can opt to do the 2-day Advanced Open Water Qualification and certify yourself to be able to dive to 30m.
If you want to just go diving, we can arrange accompanied dives around the island.
You may, after 3 days of diving just want to relax and explore the island; this is also fine!
Diving over the next two days (days 6 and 7) is not included in the trip price, and is to be paid directly to the dive centre.
DAY 7: CAMINO BOAT DIVE DAY
Today, we have the option of heading out on a dive around the wrecks, as well as a Camino boat trip. Those who have opted to do their Advanced Course can also join the group on this trip and complete the second day of their advanced training on the boat.
Alternatively, you may want to relax and explore the island.
DAY 8: RETURN FLIGHT TO THE UK
If you are booking your own flights we always recommend booking a late one, as you can’t fly within 24 hours of your last dive. If you want to make the most of the diving on day 7, then you need to book a flight today after 4pm. This also gives you a day to chill in Gozo.
Transfer to the airport. Depart and fly back to the UK.

What’s the Food Like in Gozo?
Gozo’s food scene is simple, hearty and deeply Mediterranean, with a strong focus on fresh, local ingredients. Expect generous portions, relaxed mealtimes and plenty of seafood straight from the surrounding waters.
You’ll tuck into dishes like freshly grilled fish, octopus stew, seafood pasta and traditional Maltese specialities such as rabbit, slow-cooked meats and rustic stews. Local cheeses, crusty bread, olives and seasonal vegetables feature heavily, often served family-style in laid-back restaurants and waterfront cafés.
After a day of diving, meals are comforting and satisfying rather than fancy — perfect for refuelling. Vegetarian options are widely available, and you’ll also find Italian influences throughout, from pizza and pasta to gelato for dessert.
In short: wholesome, flavourful food, enjoyed slowly, with a glass of local wine or a cold beer — exactly how island life should taste.
What Makes Our Trip Different?
How Difficult Is It?
How Difficult Is Our Scuba Diving in Gozo?
This trip is rated Challenge Level 2, making it a low-difficulty adventure with a small added element of challenge, ideal for anyone wanting to experience scuba diving in Gozo without extreme physical demands.
The main challenge comes from spending time in the water and learning or developing scuba diving skills, rather than fitness or endurance. Diving conditions in Gozo are calm, with excellent visibility, and all dives are fully guided by experienced instructors.
Days are well balanced, with dive sessions broken up by rest periods and relaxed time on land. Entry points are generally straightforward, and there’s plenty of opportunity to recover between dives and enjoy the island’s laid-back pace of life.
This trip is well suited to first-time divers, those new to adventure travel, and anyone looking for an active experience that’s rewarding but not physically intense.

Reviews
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to bring my own dive equipment?
No, everything is included in the trip cost. You will also be taught how to use all of the equipment.
Is this trip suitable for experienced divers?
Yes, we can liaise with our in-country partners and arrange for you to complete other dives or more advanced qualifications.
What is a reef-safe sunscreen?
There isn’t an agreed definition of ‘reef-safe’, but it generally means the product doesn’t contain Oxybenzone or Octinoxate.
Look instead for mineral-based sunscreens, with either non-nano Titanium Dioxide or non-nano Zinc Oxide.
What meals are included on the trip?
Every day, breakfast and a drink are included. The breakfast menu is varied, and includes vegan options. Guests at the hotel get 10% off lunch and dinner menu items, and there are many lovely restaurants/lunch spots near the hotel.
Do I need a visa to enter Malta?
Because entry requirements can and do change, and because we have clients of many nationalities, we always recommend checking this with your own government’s website. Be sure to allow enough time to apply for any visas or permits required; don’t leave your checks until the day before!
Since Brexit my mobile network provider has reintroduced roaming charges in Europe. How can I avoid these but still use my phone?
Your mobile provider might have reasonably-priced roaming add-ons, so it is worth exploring these. Or you could buy an eSim; these are often much cheaper than add-ons and are easy to activate and use. See our article for more information – https://thebucketlistcompany.co.uk/unlock-seamless-connectivity-with-esims-the-ultimate-travel-companion/
Can you cater for different diets?
When you book you will receive a link to your portal, where you can fill in your passenger information, including dietary and medical requirements. These will be shared with our guides and providers (including airlines if you have also booked flights). Please provide this information as quickly as possible, so we can make any necessary arrangements for you.
Whilst we do our utmost to ensure your needs are met, in some locations options for very specific diets may be extremely limited; we therefore suggest bringing some suitable snacks.
If you have a severe food allergy please ensure you carry your medication at all times, and that we are made aware. We will pass this information on, but a conversation with your in-country guide on arrival will help them give you the best possible guidance regarding suitability or otherwise of foods.
If you have specific concerns we always suggest contacting us to discuss before booking.
How do the monthly payments work?
If you choose to pay for your trip monthly your payment plan will start the month after your booking is made, and will end a minimum of 28 days prior to departure. After deposit, the outstanding balance will be divided by the number of months available and we’ll charge this amount each month to the card of your choice. If you have a preferred date of the month for payments to be taken just let us know. If at a later date you wish to add an extra experience to your trip we can modifiy your payment plan to accommodate this.
