The idea of our training weekends is that you can get some practice trekking in various mountain trails, whilst meeting your trip leaders and fellow Bucketlisters. You will be able to test your hiking equipment and learn about various elements of your trip including:
Self-management and safety
Clothing and equipment choices
Dealing with heat, cold and altitude
Health and hygiene
Hydration and nutrition
Supportive group dynamics
Working with porters
Although this is not compulsory, it is a brilliant opportunity to meet your team members and make friends before setting off together. You’ll learn about altitude sickness, how to recognise it and how it is treated. You will learn about equipment, what works best and how to use it effectively.
Our trekking training takes the form of hiking weekends in the Peak District, Brecon Beacons National Park, Snowdonia National Park or Exmoor National Park. These hiking weekends are brilliant trips in of themselves, taking in the natural beauty of the UK, whilst having plenty of laughs along the way!
Arrive at accommodation, usually a local bunkhouse and head to the pub for drinks and a Q&A with the trip leaders.
DAY 2:
Early breakfast & then straight out into the mountains for a day of trekking training. In the evening we head to the pub for food.
DAY 3:
Early breakfast again so we can head back out into the mountains for a day’s hike, aiming to finish mid afternoon for tea and cake!
What our Customers Say
Here’s what some of our awesome customers had to say:
“Ok, so if you aren’t Wonder Woman or the female version of Edmund Hillary (although we did have our very own Ironwoman – unfortunately not me!) but you fancy a bit of a challenge/adventure, then this is ideal!
This trip will challenge you mentally and physically, but because you make new amazing friends and have such a laugh – along with seeing the vibrancy of Morocco – you soon forget about how much you are struggling. The elation of achievement when you reach the top is phenomenal, and worth every foot step!
Other companies may offer the same trip, but I doubt they give the same level of expertise from the moment you pay your deposit! Everything has been thought of, from the advice about equipment to buy/rent, to the tips for working with our amazing guides and porters.
And then there’s our Bucket list Company rep, Gareth! Gareth, aka Billy Boy Wonder, was the best expedition leader you can ask for. He was always positive, encouraging, smiling and calm, even when there was a drama or something didn’t go according to plan. Oh, and ask him about his belly dancing skills!
I would highly recommend this company, and will be booking another trip! If you have any doubts, don’t! Just book it! You won’t regret it, and will finish the week with a permanent smile, some lovely new friends and priceless memories! Thank you to everyone on our trip. And at last I can say: “Got the t-shirt and wearing it!”

“I recent went on the Sahara Trek and it was one of the best times of my life. That sounds so cliche but it’s the easiest way for me to describe it.
The Bucket List Company made the whole experience stress free. I highly recommend what these guys are doing!”

I had the pleasure of travelling to Nepal with The Bucket List Company. From attending a training weekend in February right through to our final landing at Heathrow after our trip to base camp in October, everything was thought out and carried out in a non pressurised professional way. I would highly recommend this company to anybody.

“If you want to realise your dreams, the team at The Bucket List Company need to be your travel companions. From the ease of booking, preparing kit lists and training encouragement to the summiting of Mt Kilimanjaro, the team are there to support you 100% of the way. The knowledge and in country support was amazing. We came back a team of successful climbers, full of knowledge and experiences of Tanzania and her wonders.
We laughed (a lot) and we cried; we sang and danced and we ate extremely well. They even managed pizza and chips halfway up the mountain! Everyone became one big family, relaxed and laid back, each of us supporting everyone’s ambition to get to the top. A truly life changing experience. We are already planning our next trip with Keith and the team.”

“One of the best trips I’ve ever been on. Amazing location, excellent diving company, and the best bunch of people. I would highly recommend the Bucket List Company and their Gozo scuba diving trip.”

Gozo Diving Trip
“This has been the first time I’ve used this travel company. I would like to say it has been a fabulous experience , the staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. The whole trip was well planned, but their was scope to change the itinerary at the last minute to include other travel arrangements and visits. Nothing was to much trouble. I would definitely use this company again and would be more than happy to recommend it to my friends. Thanks for a great holiday.”
