Do I need a Visa and what are the travel requirements for Nepal from the UK?

The Nepal Government changed the rules in 2022 and UK tourists no longer need to complete an online international travel form prior to arriving in Nepal. And you don’t need to do anything in advance to get a Visa for Nepal from the UK either.

Do I Need A Visa For Nepal From The UK?
While you don’t need to obtain a Visa for Nepal before travelling from the UK, there are a couple of other requirements to stick to. In order to travel, you must have:
- A passport that’s valid for at least six months
- A Covid-19 vaccination record
- OR if you’re unvaccinated, a PCR test result that was performed no more than 72 hours before the first flight out (kids under five don’t need to comply with these standards)
You might also get asked to show proof of:
- A travel insurance policy covering your health, emergency assistance, and rescue for the duration of your trip to Nepal
- The booking details for your first hotel
Applying for your Visa for Nepal once you arrive
If you’ve been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, it’s super easy to obtain your Visa when you arrive.
You can simply complete the necessary paperwork in the arrivals area of the Kathmandu Airport or apply for a visa online through Online Services once you’ve landed. You’ll be able to pay for your Visa online using any Visa or MasterCard payment method.
To obtain your Visa fuss-free, you will need to either:
- Prove your vaccination status using the NHS app (and you must have been vaccinated at least 14 days prior to entering Nepal)
- Provide evidence of a negative PCR test completed less than 72 hours before your flight of first departure (the best option for those who haven’t been vaccinated against Covid-19)

How much does it cost to get a Visa for Nepal from the UK?
You can obtain Visas for Nepal for various durations of stay, and the length of validity will affect the cost of your application.
Currently, 15 days of tourism on a multiple-entry Visa for Nepal from the UK costs £25, while 30 days costs £40 and 90 days costs £100.

Other criteria to travel to Nepal from the UK
There are various vaccines recommended to tourists travelling from the UK to Nepal, though only one is mandatory. You’ll need to have proof of a yellow fever vaccination before entering Nepal (even though there is currently no risk of yellow fever in the country).
