How Much Does It Cost To Visit Cuba?

Cuba’s an iconic destination that sits atop the bucket list of many travellers and there’s a good reason for that.

The combination of Caribbean cool, glorious beaches, rich history and a culture like few others, as well as stunning landscapes and vibrant cities makes it a top destination for so many people.

Whatever your grand ambitions are on your Cuban adventure, you might be wondering whether it’s within your budget or perhaps just how much it’ll cost to tick off everything on your bucket list.

How Much Does Is Accommodation In Cuba?

As with any holiday, trip or adventure, the cost of your bucket list trip to Cuba will depend on when you’re planning on heading over.

The busy season is between November and April, which is when our TBLC trips run, as this is the perfect season weather wise. It’s outside of the rainy and hurricane seasons and temperatures tend to stick between 15-25°C, which is ideal for anything active!

That does naturally mean that accommodation will be more expensive than the shoulder seasons or the off season but it’s a trade-off that’s worth it for those guarantees on the conditions, tourist attractions being open and getting the most out of your experience.

Hotels are reasonably priced, with mid-range hotels setting you back somewhere between £35-70 per night depending on where you are (expect a higher cost in busier cities like Havana), while hostels are a budget friendly option at around £10 per night.

The good news is that with our TBLC Best of Cuba adventure, you don’t need to worry about finding any of your accommodation because that’s all included! So there’s no need to go hunting around and planning your itinerary to the nth degree… because we’ve done that bit for you.

How Much Is Local Transport In Cuba?

Once you arrive in Cuba, getting around can be an adventure in itself – and local transport costs will vary depending on where you are and how you want to get about!

Taxis can be on the expensive side, particularly in touristy areas, so expect to pay £12 for a short ride and up to £50 for longer trips. Buses, however, might just be the most cost-effective mode of transport in Cuba, with bus rides between cities costing as little as £8 and local buses costing pennies – although they will be crowded!

By joining a small group tour like our Best of Cuba trip, you can simplify all of those logistical headaches, though – because all of our transport is included as part of the trip. That means you don’t need to worry about any travel or trips while you’re with us in Cuba, it’s all sorted.

Is Food Expensive In Cuba?

Cuban cuisine is a delightful blend of Spanish, African, and Caribbean influences, so it’s a truly unique experience.

Food is a great way of experiencing culture in any country and Cuba’s no different – if the key to heart is through the stomach, Cuba has ours.

Depending on your appetite and what sort of eatery you’re at, food can be as cheap or expensive as you make it. Street food will cost as little as £2 while high-end restaurants will be at least £35 per person, with mid-range restaurants sitting in that £10-20 bracket.

We’ve been running our Best of Cuba adventure for long enough to have identified all of our favourite eating spots, though… which means you benefit from our tried and tested approach.

How Much Do Activities And Tours Cost In Cuba?

There’s so much to see and do in Cuba, whether it’s a city tour of Havana (that’ll set you back about £30), day trips to Santa Clara, Trinidad or Varadero, or specialist tours to do scuba diving, horse riding or even salsa lessons (the dance, not the dip!).

For each trip, factor in the cost, with day trips ranging from £50-120 per person, specialist tours costing up to £50 per person and also tipping guides and staff.

Private guides are a great way to explore tourist areas and cities but the best guides can set you back around £50 per day and getting hold of them in the busy season is easier said than done.

But with small group tours like ours, you benefit from a cheaper price AND you get the best guides because we always book well in advance, meaning you get the best of both worlds.

And it also means you don’t need to factor in another cost on top of your trip price – which you can pay in instalments that suit you.
