If you want to know how much K2 costs to climb, you’ve hit the jackpot – that’s exactly what this page is all about.

K2 is one of the world’s most iconic natural phenomenon’s and the second highest mountain in the world, as well as being widely considered the world’s most difficult mountain to climb.
K2 Base Camp is a trip like few others, delivering more than its fair share of bucket-list worthy moments – and if you’re down for adventure, you’re in the right place!
Known as the majestic jewel of the Karakoram Range, reaching the summit is a serious challenge… but trekking to K2 Base Camp is a much more accessible undertaking.
And we just so happen to offer a trip where you can just that – but how much does it cost to climb to K2 Base Camp?
The cost of a K2 Base Camp trek can vary widely based on several factors, including when you travel, the size of your group, how many guides you use, how long you’re staying for, the level of luxury you’re looking for, and loads more.
But aside from the hard cost, it’s also worth thinking about how much time, effort and logistics go into making your K2 Base Camp trip as good as it can be.
We’ve been running small-sized group trips to K2 Base Camp for years, which means we know what we’re doing, we know the terrain, we know all the best local guides (and we pre-book them!), as well as all the best spots for sightseeing, food, and accommodation along the way.
Being able to do that AND pay for your trip monthly from just £136 per month? It almost seems to good to be true… and yet, here we are.
You can find out more about our K2 Base Camp trip here.
When you book with us, your trek package generally covers a range of essentials.
That means you get accommodation during your 14-day trek in two-person tents, which we pitch directly onto rock or ice, depending on where we are – all of which include thick camping mattresses.
Travel within Pakistan is included too, which means all of your transfers to and from your starting point in Askole are sorted. Public transport within Pakistan is generally cheap, although navigating train and bus routes can take some serious planning.
Thankfully, we’ve done it enough times and made the mistakes while planning the first trips so you don’t have to! Local guides keep you on track and make sure everything runs as smooth as silk while you’re in Pakistan.
Depending on how you choose to travel to Pakistan and whether you book with a tour company or build your own adventure, food is one of the biggest things to think about.
There are plenty of options while trekking to K2 Base Camp but the reality is that meal planning while undertaking long days of trekking is probably the last thing you want to do.
You’ll need a tourist visa when you travel to Pakistan and it’s important to have comprehensive travel insurance, particularly as you’ll be active for long days of trekking to reach the base camp.
High-altitude trekking requires specialist insurance that includes emergencies and evacuations so if you’ve already got a policy, it’s worth checking or upgrading if necessary to ensure you’ve got peace of mind!
And while we’ll provide tents and camping gear, you’ll need to bring your own personal trekking equipment – we’d recommend a sturdy pair of waterproof boots, warm clothing, and quality sleeping bag.
There’s nothing more important that getting proper rest to make sure you enjoy every moment of trekking to base camp!
Spoiler alert: absolutely.
