Visa Requirements For Jordan From The UK

To stay in Jordan, travellers from the UK do need a visa. The good news is you can get this on arrival at any Jordanian airport.

A single-entry visit visa will cost 40 Jordanian dinars, which is about £45. The visa is valid for one month, but if you find yourself totally in awe of everything Jordan has to offer (a distinct possibility, might I add), you can extend your visa online for up to 6 months.

Make sure you don’t accidentally overstay though because you could be hit with a nasty fine.

(If you’re planning to enter Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories during a trip to Jordan, you’ll need a multiple-entry visa from the Jordanian Embassy in London before you travel. Just check which areas are advised against before planning your trip – click here for the latest information.)

As a tourist, you also have the option to apply for a Jordan Pass online before travelling. Your entry visa is included in the cost of the pass, and you’re given hassle-free access to over 40 of Jordan’s most popular tourist attractions. Click here to have a look at it yourself.

Passport Requirements For Jordan From The UK

If you’re a keen traveller, you probably already know your passport’s expiration date off the top of your head. But if you’re not sure, go check NOW.

Jordan (like almost every other country) requires you to have a passport with at least 6 months left on it, so if yours is about to run out, renew it ASAP. The UK passport office doesn’t exactly prioritise speedy turnarounds after all.

You may also need to provide information about the first hotel you’re staying at, details of onward or return flights, and proof of sufficient funds – how much of this you’ll actually need to show will vary from person to person and between airports, so it’s best to have it all to hand, just in case.

As with all visa and passport stuff, make sure to keep updated and check the requirements of the country you’re entering before you travel – click here to look at the latest travel info on Jordan.

A person in a black jacket stands on a rock ledge, marveling at the ancient stone facade of Al-Khazneh (The Treasury) in Petra, Jordan. With its carvings etched into towering cliffs amidst rugged, reddish-brown terrain, one might wonder: Do I need a visa for Jordan to explore such wonders?.

What Are The Customs Rules For Jordan From The UK?

Unlike other Islamic countries, it’s not prohibited to take alcohol into Jordan, as long as it’s no more than one litre of duty-free.

That being said, if you’re looking to bring in fresh meat and milk products, you’ll need a permit from the Ministry of Agriculture – if you were thinking of bringing a pack of sausages in, best leave that at home.

You’ll also have to declare if you’re bringing in over 15,000 Jordanian dinars – close to £17,000 – but again, you probably weren’t thinking of doing that anyway. Speaking of money…

How Much Money Should I Take To Jordan From The UK?
