What’s the Food Like in the Maldives?
Maldivian food is fresh, simple and centred around the ocean. Tuna is the staple, alongside reef fish, snapper and lobster — often grilled or served in light, coconut-based curries.
Coconut, chilli, lime and curry leaves give dishes their flavour, with influences from Sri Lanka and South India. Meals are typically rice-based, accompanied by fresh fish, vegetables and homemade flatbreads.
On local island trips, expect authentic home-style cooking, beach BBQs, tropical fruit and freshly caught seafood — simple, flavourful and true to island life.
How Difficult Is It?
How Difficult Is the Ultimate Maldives Liveaboard?
The Ultimate Maldives Liveaboard is considered a moderate-difficulty trip, focused more on diving frequency than physical endurance. Over the course of the trip, you’ll complete up to 16–17 dives across multiple atolls, with some dives involving currents, deeper depths, and multiple entries per day.
While you don’t need extreme fitness, you should be a certified diver in good health, comfortable spending extended time in the water and completing several dives over consecutive days. Surface intervals, relaxed onboard living, and expert guides ensure plenty of time to recover between dives, making it achievable for most divers with prior experience.
