Mt Toubkal stands 4167m above sea level and commands superb views of the High Atlas Mountains. Our trek passes through impressive landscapes on well-defined paths and is, surprisingly, not too strenuous. As we climb higher, the paths do become steeper but the gain in altitude awards dramatic views towards Marrakech and the spectacular Anti-Atlas mountains. Passing through remote villages and terraced fields we gain an insight into the life of the friendly Berber people and finish with free time in the colourful imperial city of Marrakech.

Trek towards the Berber villages of Aremd (1843m) taourirt, and targa imoula, we stop at Aremd to visit this village in the Assif Ait Maizane Valley, built seemingly house upon house on a moraine spur. Our last stretch of the day takes us to our overnight accommodation at the Toubkal Refuge .
Today is an acclimatization walk to Tizi Ouanoums pass from where you will see the Ifni Lake. Back to the Refuge.
Climb up to the highest peak of North Africa, you will have great views over the atlas mountains. Back down via the same way to the refuge. Overnight.

No experience is needed, however we strongly recommend you practice and train well. You will require a reasonable amount of fitness and a strong will to succeed. Remember that you are walking between 4 and 8 hours a day, uphill to an altitude of 4000m.
Training should involve long uphill walks (with a daypack) to accustom yourself to long distance hiking. Once you have booked on the trip, you will be given an advice pack which will contain information on how to train and make sure you are prepared physically to make the trek.
